...I've spoken exactly 5 sentences so far to any other person -- all the other ones were actually directed to myself...
...I actually noticed that it was Fall, with all those leaves everywhere. I did notice there were leaves on the ground before today, don't get me wrong, but today I really noticed them. The trees are beautiful. I love the Fall.
...isn't as cold as other days have been. I think that's a better reason than any to celebrate (right after I actually finish studying for my quiz and my test, that is...)
...I was thisclose to locking my keycard in my room, inside my other pants. I only didn't because while I was closing my self-locking door, I remembered, a split second before the door was fully closed, that I didn't have any Kleenex in my pockets. Only then did I realize there was nothing else (i.e., a keycard) in my pockets either...
...is all about introspection. Though I think maybe having too much of that could possibly kill someone (or at least drive them insane).
Now I've really got to go and study. Oh yeah, and eat lunch, too...
--sighs wearily-- Okay, well I'm done. For now, anyway.
Today was 2-essays-and-a-test day and I've just finished the last of those. The phrase (to borrow from Robert Frost) "Miles to go before I sleep"...I'm now thinking of that (at least for the moment, until more Stuff comes along that I have to deal with) in the past tense: I went miles, now I'm gonna sleep. ;)
And hmm. Just did a search for Robert Frost's poem and am I the only one who finds it rather sad that there were more hits for the Celine Dion song "Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)" than for the poem? First, I did a search by the name of the poem, but that only turned up 3 results, none of which was the actual poem itself...then I did it by the key phrase above, and bam! Celine Dion...
It took at least 45 minutes for me to prepare my gourmet (i.e., more than one food item at once) dinner today and only about 15 to eat it. Hmm. Cooking is dumb. ;) Well, not really. It was kind of nice to make something. I had country mushroom rice, Japanese-style vegetables, and honey garlic chicken wings. Mmmm. :) Now, obviously those weren't made from scratch and there was a microwave involved at some point, but I did use the stove as well and let me just say, my dish presentation was lovely. ;)
Heh. Maybe not. But I was happy with it so that's good enough for me. :)
Hey! Guess who got 52.5 out of 50 on her first English [Narrative] quiz! Do you need a hint...?
Anyway, it's still just 100% so apparently in university, they do percentage calculations the Mme. Seguin way...*shrugs* well that's okay, though. I'm not complaining about the 100%. :) Heh.
All right, I'm back now. And...er...it's kind of late...now...have I actually learnt anything in the past week worth listing (in the section on the left)? Ehrm... Oh, right. Oh, well. I'm changing it to something I've already learnt before, but have just had reaffirmed tonight...
:P
Oh, and yay! I'm at least half-finished Ben. Frank.'s autobio now. :) Yay me. Now all I have to do is finish that and tackle the chunk of Com reading I have to do.... --sigh--
Dude. Am going home for the weekend. Hmm...now I have to think about what I should bring with me...should probably be reading Ben Franklin's autobiography over the weekend since I'm supposed to done by Wednesday...and I'm on...like, page 15 or so. I did read the SparkNotes, though. :)
Darn it. I have that song by Creed stuck in my head and I'm not even entirely sure I like it because I'm fairly certain there is a grammatical error or fault in logic of some kind in the chorus: "Hold me now / I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking / That maybe six feet / Ain't so far down" Now...correct me if I'm wrong...but if the guy's still six feet from the edge, he couldn't exactly go down anywhere anyway, right? Unless, of course, he walked the six feet to the edge and then went the other six feet in the downwards direction. *shrugs* Oh well. I guess it makes sense -- I just don't like the particular wording. :) I'm weird.
Have got my second Calculus quiz tomorrow and hopefully it'll go as well as the first one did. It's only one question, with a multiple-choice answer, and so you can get a mark of either 0 or 1. Shouldn't be too bad, but I hope class doesn't start moving too quickly once the review sections are finished...
ps. My wishlist is now available on the World Wide Web. Aren't you excited?!? *deflates* No, you aren't? *shrugs* Yeah, me neither. :) Anyway, if you're really curious about what my heart desires (pffft. As if I'd actually see these things in the Mirror of Erised...), you can go here. :)
OK, so maybe you ain't a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you're probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.
On the weekend I did finally get to watch Tuck Everlasting which I've been wanting to see and also went to see White Oleander (AND even managed to get some reading done for school! Whoo!) And I bought a book for $3.99. And I'm apparently allergic to cats now...? Or at least I think that's what it was...
Well anyway, here I am again, back at res and it's like I'm used to being here now but it still doesn't feel quite right. Somehow still a little impermanent. (Probably because it is...) I do like being on my own more than I used to be, but when I mix my old (home) life with my current (school and res) life, it starts to get a little weird. But that's just me and a feeling I have. I probably don't explain it properly...
And so I've officially missed the OLP concert that happened yesterday...--sigh-- Would have been really great to have gone, but it'll be okay...just will have to catch them next time...and by God, there'd better be a next time! :) Oh well.
It's really cold in here right now. Every time we try to turn the heat on the lousy over-sensitive smoke/heat detector throws another hissy fit. --sigh-- But it's not too bad.
I miss my friends. It's just nice to have people around who know me well and who I know well...I miss having people I can lean on. Physically and not physically. :)
But I'm okay. And I think I'm going home for at least part of the coming weekend (because my brother's going to be there) and I don't think I have any tests this week (just a Calc. quiz, I think) and oooh, "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins just came on the radio...
Added a new section on the left of this page under Current Conditions. Check it out. :)
And oooh, now it's "In My Place" by Coldplay...excellent. :)
*jumps for joy* I HAVE COMMENTS!! I HAVE COMMENTS!! Oh happy day. :) :)
Thanks! *grins*
Come, long weekend - come bring me my freedom...
(Um...for those of you that don't know...that is a *coughs* paraphrase of Juliet's line, "Come, gentle night - come bring me my Romeo...") ;)
What is WITH these stupid smoke/heat detectors?? I can't even use a friggin' toaster with the detector having a hernia and throwing a loud hissy fit... :P Grrr, Arrgh......
Started the day off by being 20 minutes late to English class, then my computer was being wonky (it seems to be better now) so I was fiddling with that, then rushed to Economics class, had my first tutorial session (so that's one more class than usual), then went to English class #2.
*shrugs* It's been okay, though. Lots of speedwalking... :)
Cut to Xander's basement. Spike is walking back and forth as if looking for something to pack in his bag, cigarette in his mouth. Xander is standing on the other side of the room and Anya is lounging on the recliner, browsing a comic book.
XANDER: (impatiently) You own nothing. This shouldn't be taking so long.
SPIKE: Hang on. Let a fella get organized.
Spike sees a radio and picks it up.
XANDER: That's my radio!
SPIKE: And you're what? Shocked and disappointed? I'm evil!
ANYA: (putting comic aside) So, what kind of place are you looking for?
SPIKE: I don't know. Maybe a crypt. Some place, you know, dark and dank. But not as dark and dank as this.
ANYA: Heh. It's pretty depressing, isn't it?
SPIKE: I've known corpses with a fresher smell. In fact, I've been one. (flicks his cigarette away)
XANDER: That's it! Let's go.
Xander marches to him about ready to drag his ass out.
ANYA: Wait. (gets up and unplugs the tall three-head lamp and brings it over to him) I want to give you something for your new place.
XANDER: That's my lamp.
Xander takes it back from her and returns it to its original spot.
ANYA: A gift is traditional. I've read about it.
XANDER: That's among friends. With bitter enemies we don't give them my lamp.
SPIKE: It's not gonna have electricity anyway. It's a crypt, remember?
ANYA: What about running water? A fridge to keep your blood fresh?
SPIKE: (a beat) No.
ANYA: Well, that's gotta suck. You should just get a hotel room or something.
SPIKE: (considers) Demon girl's got a point. I need fresh blood. If I had a few bob for a room with an honor bar--
XANDER: Out! Before I get the Slayer over here to kick your ass out!
SPIKE: (sighs, picks up his long coat) Don't know why she didn't come. Say good-bye, shed a few tears.
XANDER: Well, she has an appointment with somebody who's actually still *scary*!
*giggles* "...In fact, I've been one". Hehe. And in retrospect...Spike's [old?] crypt does seem to have electricity, seeing as how he had a working television set and a fridge...
